First Friday is this Friday–October 2nd!

What a night to be in Bethlehem!  From 5-7, at Love.Yarn.Shop. you can take a Christmas Ornament Class with Casey, sign up for Secret Santa Swap, and swing in to nibble, sip, and say “hi.”  You’ll want to visit WREN to see the new gallery exhibit, Clay and Rock by Alison Dodd and Andrew Hepburn.  At 7:00 it’s off to the Colonial Theatre for the Manhattan Short Film Festival.

Shaving the Sweater

As the sweaters come out, we also see with new eyes the pills.  Time to shave.  There are products you can buy to de-pill your sweater, but really, just a regular hand-held shaver (the kind you have for your legs and underarms) works just as well.  Take a few minutes to go over your garment and it will look 100% better and ready for the new season.

Hats are Ready Just in Time

The slip-stitch stash hats that the North Country Fiber Forum women have knit are heading to Burch House just in time for the cold snap we’re experiencing in the North Country.  Thank you to all who participated in this project.  I’m sure these hand-knit hats will bring comfort, as well as warmth, to the wearer.

Swans Island EcoWash is in!

This sport weight 100% washable merino is Certified EcoWash Organic, making it the perfect choice for ecologically-minded knitters and crocheters.  The yarns are incredibly soft and the you’ll fall in love with the tonal colors.  Nice for a baby or, better yet, to baby your own soft skin.

Patrick’s Pumpkin Hat Class

Join Laurie on Saturday at the shop to make this cute hat for October–Patrick’s Pumpkin Hat.  11-12:30 $15

Frolicking Feet

More Done Roving has arrived!  I picked out some lighter shades in the Frolicking Feet Worsted for children’s outfits.  The soft washable merino is perfect for a special little someone.

LYS Wine Glasses! Woohoo!

I’ve just put out the LYS wine glasses!  I had a few hiccups, of course, with the company who needs to send replacements for broken and imperfect ones, but other than that, they are in the shop.  Can’t wait to use them, but it is only 12:30, so I’ll need to wait until closing time…

Can-do Cowl

Today I finished a cute little cowl pattern, which I was inspired to write by a new knitter, Nancy.  I decided to smarten it up with an i-cord, but it can be worn doubled-up.  It’s available on my Etsy site.  KISSpatterns

All’s Well That Ends Well

I had intended to order Nature Spun Sport from Brown Sheep, so imagine my surprise and disappointment when I received a box of worsted.  Although Brown Sheep was willing to send a call tag, I decided to think about it.  After holding a skein in my hand, I realized I had just solved one of my inventory dilemmas.  I needed a  worsted weight equivalent to Cascade 220 or Plymouth Galway (both from Peru), but I wanted a USA yarn and here it was!   Problem solved.
