NH Sheep and Wool Festival

Sheep and Wool Festival Season Begins

Groomed goats, sheep herding, hand-dyed yarns, lobster rolls…the trip to Deerfield for the New Hampshire Sheep and Wool Festival is worth the 2-hour road trip on the weekend of May 12th and 13th.   I wander somewhat aimlessly, appreciating the garments everyone wears to exhibit their skills, admiring the beautiful goats and sheep, delighting in the fibers, watching with respect the relationship between people and their animals in the competitions and the shearing and herding demonstrations.  If you have never been, treat yourself and your family to an outing.  The demonstrations and classes are free–you may be like me and want to learn how to darn your socks!  Check out the schedule https://nhswga.org/lecture-and-demomonstration-schedule

We’ll be carpooling from the shop at 8:30 on Sunday if you’d like to join us!

Mother’s Day = NH Sheep and Wool Festival!

For many of us, the summer of fiber festivals is heralded in by the New Hampshire Sheep and Wool Festival in Deerfield on Mother’s Day weekend, May 13th and 13th.  I look forward to the lobster rolls, also first of the season for me, as much as I look forward to reconnecting with my favorite dyers, admiring the animals, and keeping my eye out for something new and unusual.    We’ll be carpooling from Love.Yarn.Shop. at 9:00 on Sunday morning.  Call to reserve a space in one of the vehicles.  If you haven’t been to this festival before, check out this year’s booklet on their website.   http://nhswga.com/sites/default/files/2017_booklet_online.pdf

Cucumber Sandwiches and Wine Spritzers

Ah, the taste of fresh cucumber slices, lightly salted, between soft, crustless, white bread.  The nose of fresh mint while sipping the cold, slightly bubbly wine spritzer with undertones of raspberry.  The sound of people greeting each other familiarly, the rustle of project bags, (what?), the click of needles…oh yeah, it’s a yarn tasting!    We’ll be discussing our road trips!  NH Sheep and Wool Festival in May, Great Northern Yarn Haul in July.  See you at the shop, Friday, April 8, from 5-7.
